R T P A
Research Triangle Paralegal Association, Inc.
HISTORY
In 1999, paralegals working in and around the Research Triangle Park approached the Raleigh-Wake Paralegal Association ("RWPA") about forming a satellite group of that organization that would hold regular meetings in the RTP area.  This was an attempt to serve paralegals unable to attend RWPA's regular monthly meetings, usually held in downtown Raleigh, because of distance and time constraints.  The first meeting of the satellite group was held in February 2000.  As word spread of the group's existence, interest and attendance at meetings increased.  It became clear within a few months that there was a demand for an independent organization that served paralegals in the RTP area.  Founding members of the satellite group started working towards that goal, and in January 2002, the Research Triangle Paralegal Association was officially established.
